David William Zerba

David William Zerba

08-19-1951 New Britton, CT- 02-27-2009 Portland, OR

 David Zerba of Aloha, OR passed away on February 27.  David was born on August 19th, 1951.  He grew up in Connecticut and lived part of his teenage years in beautiful Cape Cod.  In 1980 he met Jeanette Ferguson in California and in 1988 they were married in Connecticut.  In 1993 they moved to Aloha, OR where they have since resided.  David was a journeyman machinist for many years and had a natural talent for computer work, including programming, maintenance and consulting.  His hobbies were in helping people and bible studies.  He was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Aloha since 1993.

David is survived by his spouse Jeanette, his daughter Camille Frances Zerba of San Francisco, his son Michael Robert Zerba of Las Vegas, brothers Richard and Johnny Zerba, his sister Carol Zerba and five grandchildren.

Clarence Leroy Fillis

Clarence Leroy Fillis, 92, of Canby died February 25, 2009.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:00am at Canby New Life Foursquare Church.

Clarence was born October 18, 1916 in Enid, MT.  He lived in Nevada for 12 years where he was a greeter in various churches in Fallon, NV.  He worked for Johnson Controls for 10 years.  He has lived in Canby for the past 7 years and was a charter member of New Life Foursquare Church.  He was in the Army Air Force during WWII.  He loved woodworking and plastic canvas.  He married Dorothy Hastings in 1942.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Fillis; sons Art Fillis, Wayne Fillis and Terry Fillis; daughter Beverly Countryman; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Elke Elisabeth Theresia Hutchison

 Much too young. Much too soon. 

Elke Hutchison passed away on February 24, 2009 at the age of 48. She was born Nov 26, 1960 in Schweinfurt Ger. to Walter (deceased) and Anna Erhard (Raile). She was married to Dennis Edward Hutchison on Apr 28, 1979. She is survived by her husband, their children, Christopher Hutchison and wife Jaime, Denise Zimmerman and husband Shawn, and Stefan Hutchison, all of Tigard, OR, her mother Anna of Schweinfurt Germany , sister Anita Wilton and her husband Steve, also from Tigard. She was preceded in death by her father  and brother Helmut.

Elke was a 15 year employee of the Tigard-Tualatin School District and worked as a “Lunch Lady” at Tigard High School. She was active in school functions to include the band and athletic programs. She was a member of the Tigard American Legion Auxiliary and supported her husband in his affiliation with the Al Kader Shrine.

 A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held in The Tigard High School Commons, 9000 SW Durham Road, Tigard Oregon on 8 March 2009 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Elke Hutchison Memorial Fund may be made at any Key Bank. Deposits will be donated to the Tigard High School Band and Athletic programs in her name

Mariam Elizabeth Wolfe “E.M.”

Miriam Elisabeth Wolfe, 90, passed away in Canby, Oregon. Miriam was born in Sutton, Nebraska on March 19, 1918 to William and Elizabeth (Abel) Volz.

Miriam married Heney Wolfe and they has four children.

Miriam worked as a Pharmacy Tech.

Miriam is survived by sons, Tom Wolfe and Ray Wolfe; daughters Lorene Buchanan and Kathy Clary.

Miriam is preceded in death by her husband Henry in 2003.

A celebration of  life services will be held on March 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Rivercrest Community Church, 3201 NE 148th Avenue, Portland, Oregon.

Frances Marion Sayler, 60, passed away on February 10, 2009 in Portland, Oregon.  Frances was born in Portland, Oregon on July 7, 1948 to Frank and Audrey (Randall) Stone.

Frances worked at Precision Cast parts as an assembly worker.

Frances is survived by daughters, Angela and Casandara Duncan; sister, Francene Deprez; brother, Larry Stone, and parents, Frank and Audrey Stone.

Services will be held on Sunday February 15, 2009 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Eagles East Portland Aerie #3356                                               4904 SE Hawthorne, Portland, Oregon.

Marie Eileen Spry, 89, passed away on February 7, 2009 in Newberg, Oregon. Marie was born in Portland, Oregon on September 9, 1919 to Thomas J. and Marie A. (Suess) Doyle.

Marie worked as a labor worker in various locations one place of employment was the Pendleton Woolen Mills where she worked for many years.

Phyllis Denise Williams-Warren

Phyllis Denise Williams-Warren

 Phylllis Denise Williams-Warren, 49, passed away on February 1st, 2009.  Phyllis was born on November 21, 1959 in Fort Worth, Texas.  She graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School in 1978, and attended Mt. Hood Community College.  In 1988, Phyllis attended a Tony Robbins seminar where she met her future husband, Jeff Warren, as they walked over coals together.  The couple married in July of 1992.  Phyllis was primarily a homemaker, and her top priority in life was her community ministry work with Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She would work endless hours into the night to reach out to those in need, mainly focusing her ministries towards children, doctors, nurses, police men and the dying.  Outside of Phyllis’s ministries, she loved music, dancing, and children. 

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Jeff Warren; her parents, Barbara Wager and Thomas Marks, Jr.; sisters, Patrice Williams, Wendy Williams, Erica Williams; mother-in-law, Ellen Schacher; father-in –law, Jack Warren and wife Dea; sisters-in-law, Julie Waters and Robin Kabrich; and her niece, Amore.  There is a Memorial Service for Phyllis on Saturday, February 7th at 4:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, at 7650 SW Hall Blvd., Beaverton, OR 97008.  Please view Phyllis’s website at www.help-phyllis.com.

Nancy JoyKarlov, 60, passed away in Portland, Oregon. Nancy was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 28, 1948 to Martin and Lillian (Sweeney) Karlov.

Nancy had an Associates Degree and worked in the health care industry as a Registered Nurse.

Nancy is survived by her father, Martin Karlov; brothers, Michal and his wife Katherine, Jack and his wife Susan, Steve and his wife Nancy, and Dave Karlov; sister Mary Karlov.

A private service will be held in Illinois at a later date.
