Winston had various careers during his lifetime including working as an ambulance driver and working for Gunderson, a local railroad freight car builder. He worked the longest as a Brewmaster for the Lucky Lager Brewery. In his spare time, Winston enjoyed golfing at Mt. Scott, and he also gave back to the community by volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Winston is survived by his two sons, David Lawson, of California, and Larry Lawson, of Scappoose, Oregon, and his sister, Peggy Lawson, of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (Cerveny) Lawson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Peters Catholic Church in Winston’s name. A Graveside service with full military honors is scheduled at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, April 2, 2010, at 3:00 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie.
