Mark Allan Williams

date of birth May 13 1956

date of death January 13 2016

Mark Allan Williams passed away on January 13, 2016 after a long battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. Born May 13, 1956 in Muleshoe, Texas to Edward Glenn Williams (father) and Jacquelyn Rue Burleson (mother), Mark and his family spent most of his early years moving between various parts of California and Oregon. Eventually, work took the Williams family to Trona, CA in 1966 where Mark met his future wife, Jane Alice Moore. A day after their marriage on June 8, 1974, Mark and Jane moved to Portland, OR, where Mark worked in the restaurant industry as a chef.

Shortly after the birth of his daughter, Lisa, in 1977, Mark spent two years in the army serving at Ft. Polk near Alexandria, LA. After his son, Luke, was born, the family returned to Portland. A lover of the outdoors, Mark enjoyed spending time in the garden, and loved to take his own family hiking and camping. After a brief stint as a den leader with the Cub Scouts, it was natural that he would be involved with the Boy Scouts of America, using his culinary background to volunteer his time cooking for The Outdoor Skills Institute. His passion of scouting led him to attend Wood Badge. He made such a great impression with the staff there, that they asked him to return as a leader. His last experiences with scouting involved time spent as a commissioner to the Cascade Pacific Council. Always a family man, Mark later enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Dylan and Jesse, as well as connecting with other members of his church family.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jane Williams; his daughter and her husband, Lisa Williams Theriot and Troy Theriot; son, Luke Williams; Grandchildren, Dylan and Jesse Theriot; his sister, Susanna (Suzy) Mae Williams; brothers, Glenn LaVergne and Morris Clark Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many loved friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Glenn Williams and Jacquelyn Burleson, and his sister, Robin Dennice Williams Bridenbecker.

A celebration of life on behalf of Mark Williams will be held at Westside United Methodist Church (13420 SW Butner Rd., Beaverton, OR 97005) on Saturday, January 23 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Cascade Pacific Council of The Boy Scouts of America in honor of Mark.
