On March 30, 2013, Carolyn Kay Rider passed away from ovarian cancer in her home surrounded by her husband and children who loved her and her beloved dogs Suzie Q, Ruby Sue, and Lucy Lu.
Carolyn was survived by her husband, Lyle R Rider, along with their children, Tammy L Jackson and her husband David, Ronnie R Rider and his wife Vickey, Charles D Rider, and Linda K Powelson and her husband Curt.
Her grandchildren are Michael P Bowling and his wife Roxanne, Justin R Bowling, Kimberly K Massey and her husband Thomas, Sara N Jackson, Corey C Rider, Jennifer M Macintosh and her husband Blaine, Ryan C Rider, Curtis T Powelson, Preston K Powelson, and Derek R Powelson.
Carolyn also had four great grandchildren and they are Tegan J Bowling, Madison M Bowling, Taylor L Bowling and Sophia D Massey.
Carolyn was born on 7/12/40 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was an only child to Arlene Rose Luehr and Charles August Luehr. She was married to Lyle on July 28, 1957 and they moved to Portland where she lived for most of her adult life.
Carolyn was a loving mother and being with her family is what she loved most. Carolyn was also an avid bowler who won many awards for her skills in the sport she loved. She loved animals, especially her dogs, but she also enjoyed gardening, traveling in their motor home and doing crafts.
Mom, we love you very much and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever. You are a very special woman who fought hard to enjoy every last moment with us and we will miss you until we see you again in Heaven.
Please join us as we remember the amazing woman she was at Imago Dei Community Church on April 13, 2013 at 1pm, with a celebration of her life following the service. Both the service and the celebration of life are open to all who wish to come.
